Our Work
Every year, students take on a lot of work projects and work in order to help their fellow students, create resources, improve the quality of living on campus, and otherwise advocate for others. Here is a portion of what CUSC has done for Clark University.
This is all work from CUSC as a whole. Looking for a specific area of work? Check out the committees tab and see what each committee has done!
Winterfest Proposal
The spring is filled with events run by the entire student body, and the fall has programs for orientation, Halloween, and other gatherings. But what about the winter?
In 2022, the Student Life chair and committee created winterfest to once again bring together clubs to host programs and fun events for the winter, concluding with a winter ball.

Menstrual Equity Alliance
Started before the Pandemic, the purpose of seeking menstrual equity on campus was to ensure that all students had access to free menstrual pads and tampons in various locations.
After pushing into 2021, several proposals went through to CUSC that were able to fund dispensers and products being installed in every dormitory hall, as well as in the UC, the FIRM pantry, and the library. The Menstrual Equity Alliance now takes great care of these dispensers and refills them often.

Midnight Breakfast Proposal (Spring)
For the past two years, the dining hall has worked with administration of Clark to serve students breakfast during their finals season in the Fall and Spring.
CUSC has taken on funding the Spring event, as the dining hall has only been able to budget for the Fall thus far. This gives students free food served by their deans, president and provost as well as a great way to encourage students to eat and take a break during finals.

Halloweekend
Another ongoing tradition of CUSC is Halloweekend! Traditionally, the Vice President organizes everything and connects with clubs to ensure that multiple events and programs are run throughout the weekend leading up to Halloween.
This has often included Rocky Horror shows, face painting, pumpkin decoration, horror movie screenings, cartoon artists, and in the past, turning the library into a haunted house!

Winter and Spring Lyft Proposals (2021-Present)
An ongoing tradition of CUSC has been to utilize the transportation fund to give students $50 lyft vouchers for Winter and Spring break. Recently, in the spring of 2023, the transportation proposal was updated to ensure that the lyft passes would be available until after commencement to ensure that all seniors could make it home.
This has helped to ensure that many Clarkies were able to make it home, travel, or otherwise access transportation with financial support.

Title IX Resolution
In Spring 2021, students created a resolution to be sent to the Title IX coordinator and office to request that changes be made based upon student reported behavior from the coordinator, as well as their experiences with the office itself.
The coordinator shortly resigned afterwards, and was replaced in late spring.

Rise for Racial Justice
In Spring 2022, CUSC x BSU coalition helped to fund the Rise for Racial Justice month long schedule of events throughout February.
This funding was able to support zoom webinars about various topics affecting the student community and a Floetic hosted event to facilitate a community discussion about healing.

Club Appreciation Event
In 2023, the Vision Vice President proposed to create a club appreciation event that would bring student leaders together to honor all their hard work throughout the year.
It included journals for every person as well as food throughout an award ceremony to honor nominated and awarded clubs. We hope to have this event

Thanksgiving Break Letter
In Fall 2021, CUSC sent a letter out to all faculty asking for them to be more considerate of students break times. Many representatives spoke on behalf of their constitutents, saying that Fall break (October) had been filled with assignments and gave students no time to relax or get away from school. This letter asked faculty to be more mindful of breaks, and consider that due dates not be made in the middle of breaks, as well as consider the same for Spring break.

Yearbook Funding to Senior Week
In 2020 and 2021, physical yearbooks for paid for entirely by CUSC, costing around 30,000 out of the entire budget. According to the data, a majority of seniors did not pick up their yearbooks, provide a mailing address, or were unable to have the yearbooks delivered. This left many copies behind and yearbooks are still piled up in storage to today.
CUSC proposed and passed to move this funding to senior week, and successfully had a much more affordable and fun week of events.
